Xu Chong (徐翀) is PhD. candidate at History Center of l’Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris, specialize in Contemporary History. His research interests include History of State, Urban History, Transnational History and Comparative History, the main research theme is the order and the disorder in the urban society of Shanghai and the French Empire in the 19th and the 20th century. After obtaining the Bachelor and the Master degrees of History in Capital Normal University (2007) and Peking University (2010), he prepares the PhD. Dissertation about the defense and the public order in the French Concession of Shanghai from 1849 to 1919, in the pattern of co-direction between l’IEP de Paris and l’IAO de Lyon, under the supervisor both of Jean-François Chanet (l’IEP de Paris) and Christian Henriot (l’IAO de Lyon).
