On the postings
Our new colleagues will be full members of the faculty of the Department of Political Science including the IR group; will have full research time on par with the faculty; and will - instead of most of the regular university teaching load - work with us at the Centre on our independent, publicly available analysis for Denmark’s Parliament (the political parties behind the Defence Agreement) as well as the Ministry of Defence. We’re looking for candidates with high intellectual octane and research proficiency that are also eager to provide relevant analysis to a broad audience of decision-makers. They will take a personal interest in hard international security, geopolitical, defence and/or military issues. We encourage appplications by women. Our new colleagues will be partners in developing the CMS research and policy profile; work along both junior colleagues including research assistants, post-docs and others, as well as our military analysts; and have access to CMS’s wide network of military, civilian and political practitioners.

On CMS
The Centre for Military Studies is a research centre at the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen. The CMS is a fairly unique institution by virtue of being one of very few European university research centres on national security and defence policy that also has close ties to the political and public spheres of its host country. In the applied analyses we work from and on Danish, Nordic-Baltic, Arctic, European, Transatlantic and global perspectives, always striving to supply academically sound, useful, and innovative forms of knowledge to our stakeholders, including Danish and international ones. We work internationally by design both in research and policy. In the coming years, we aim to further expand our research portfolio in strategic and security studies and to further increase the synergies between research and policy knowledge work. Any potential applicant is very welcome to contact Henrik Breitenbauch, on hob@ifs.ku.dk and +4560870608.
